Job summary

Shady Grove Medical Center in Maryland is seeking an experienced Certified Nursing Assistant for the Observation Unit. The role involves assisting with vital signs and activities of daily living under RN supervision, while upholding the mission of compassionate care.

The ideal candidate will be a Maryland-licensed CNA with BLS, capable of working night shifts on a 36-hour weekly schedule, and willing to cross-train in the USC role as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of a CNA or first year Nursing School Program and CNA exam.
• Maryland CNA license required.
• Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Maryland and be on the State Registry.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Physical ability to meet lifting, bending and turning demands.
• Experience in acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform vital signs and activities of daily living under RN supervision.
• Follow the established care plan and report progress to the RN.
• Participate in education programs, meetings and initiatives.
• Present a positive and professional image of nursing and the organization.
• Maintain safety culture and report unsafe conditions.
• Utilize resources effectively and identify needed supplies and equipment.
• Receive handoff reports from the RN and document appropriately.
• Cross-train in USC role when required.
