Job summary

JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, IL is seeking a Hospice Certified Nurse Assistant for our inpatient unit. You will work under a registered nurse to provide essential personal care, observe and document patient status, and respond quickly to patient needs in a compassionate hospice setting.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Certified by the state as a nurse aide
• List on the state aide registry with a clear record able to deliver care to patients
• 18 years of age unless state law dictates otherwise
• Valid driver’s license with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state requirements or reliable transportation preferred

Hours

PRN at Least 2 Shifts/Month (preferably more) - 12-hour shifts 7AM-7:30PM

What You’ll Do:

• The Hospice CNA-IPU (Certified Nurse Assistant – Inpatient Unit) works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient’s personal comfort needs at the unit.
• The CNA is responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations, and documenting observations and care performed.
• Performing personal care needs after given a patient’s assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly.
• Meeting safety needs of patient and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2 etc.)
• Giving personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos and changing bed lined as often as assigned
• Reporting on patient’s condition and significant changes. Also aware of the caregiver or other individuals visiting with the patient and interpersonal issues
• Adhering to the organization’s documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct
