Job summary

The Cypress of Charlotte is seeking a dedicated CNA for full-time evening shifts in Charlotte, NC. The role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, documenting care, and supporting cognitive engagement for residents, including those with dementia.

Qualified candidates hold an NC CNA license and First Aid/CPR certification, with at least two years in geriatrics or dementia care. A compassionate, patient, and team-oriented approach is essential for this community-focused setting.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed CNA in NC.
• First Aid/CPR certification required.
• Minimum two years of experience in skilled nursing, geriatrics, dementia preferred.
• Ability to observe changes in a resident’s condition and respond appropriately.
• English reading/writing and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming).
• Respond to call lights and resident requests promptly.
• Assist with meals and tray setup; monitor intake and preferences.
• Document ADL flow records, vitals, weight, and intake/output.
• Provide ROM and cognitive engagement for residents, including dementia patients.
• Maintain clean, organized resident rooms and supplies.

Schedule: Full-Time2nd Shift: 3pm - 11:00pm

Pay Range: $19.00-$21.38 per hour depending on experience, plus shift differential: $2.00 Mon-Fri and $3.00 Sat & Sun.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including toileting, bathing, shaving, and dressing, brushing hair, brushing teeth and dentures, placing hearing aids, placing dentures, and placing glasses.
• Respond promptly to all call lights and requests for assistance from residents.
• Assist with meal services, including distribution of trays, set up of tray, assistance with eating, responding to special requests or requests for additional items, and distribution of snack cart items.
• Properly document all ADL flow records, bowel, and bladder function, repositioning sheets, sign-out sheets, meal intake, intake, and output sheets.
• Obtain resident vitals and weight upon admission as well as provide a general introduction and orientation to new members.
• Maintain resident rooms in a manner that is clean and orderly, including making the bed, marking and keeping personal toiletries in the medicine cabinet on the appropriate shelf, maintaining a clear floor, placing clothing in the appropriate wardrobe, maintaining a clean overbed table and removing all soiled linens from the room.
• Provide range of motion for all assigned residents per guidelines and maintain documentation.
• Assist with activities as it relates to the cognitive ability and enjoyment of a dementia resident.
• Engage the resident in reminiscence activities.

Qualifications:

• Valid NC CNA license and completion of training course.
• First Aid/CPR certified.
• Minimum two years of experience.
• Experience in skilled nursing facilities, geriatrics, and with Dementia and Alzheimer's preferred.
• Ability to observe changes in a resident’s condition and to act as required for the resident’s total care.
• Demonstrate understanding, patience, tact, respect, and courtesy in dealing with residents, family, and visitors.
• Proficient skills and knowledge of CNA duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend written and oral instructions in English.
