Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine at Hyde Park seeks a Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) to support patient care under RN supervision. You will perform basic care, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain patient environments.

This part-time 0.6 FTE role on days, on-site in the 3W Transplant unit requires HCWR registration or nursing student status, CPR/BLS, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• HCWR registration as Illinois CNA or nursing student with competency exam.
• CPR/BLS Certification.
• Able to read, write, follow instructions, perform tasks with supervision.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work with management and staff.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; moderate to heavy physical effort.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care: vital signs, enemas, glucoscan, hemacult, multistix.
• Assist with activities of daily living and infection control.
• Aid personal hygiene, ambulation, and nourishment/fluids.
• Collect patient specimens and weigh patients.
• Assist with discharge and transfer preparation.
• Maintain patient environment: beds, rooms, and admission prep.
• Maintain supplies/equipment and the environment.
• Document activities accurately in logs.
• Initiate CPR and notify supervising physician.
• Perform receptionist duties as requested.
