Job summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) at Good Samaritan Society provides resident-centered care in long-term care, under RN supervision. Responsibilities include daily living activities, basic health care, and documenting resident interactions to ensure quality care.

Guaranteeing infection control, assisting with transfers, and supporting wellness programs are part of the role, with a day-shift, full-time schedule at the De Smet, SD location.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum age 16; prior CNA experience in long-term care preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required within four months.
• Completes 12 hours of continuing education annually; maintains required certifications.
• May be required to be registered with state UAP or Sanford Driver policy.

Responsibilities

• The Nursing Assistant provides resident-centered care under RN supervision.
• Assists with daily living activities, grooming, bathing, dressing, and meals.
• Records vital signs and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Assists with transferring, repositioning, and mobility using proper techniques.
• Supports infection prevention and uses PPE as required; assists with recreation programs.
