Job summary

The Good Samaritan Society is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) to provide resident-centered care in a long-term care setting in De Smet, SD. You will support residents with daily living activities under the supervision of a registered nurse, delivering compassionate care in a Christian environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16; prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
• Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually.
• When applicable, for applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
• Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under RN supervision.
• Assist with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and psychosocial support.
• Assist with transferring, repositioning, and walking using proper techniques and equipment; provide ROM and passive exercises.
• Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents.
• Document resident interactions and communicate changes to the charge nurse; monitor care plans and infection control policies.
