Job summary

North Point Healthcare & Wellness Centre is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide routine nursing care under the direction of nursing leadership. You will perform resident rounds, assist with meals, hygiene, mobility, and daily activities while upholding facility policies.

The role requires CNA enrollment or licensing, compassionate service to ill and elderly residents, strong English communication, and the ability to work as part of a care team in a facility setting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a school for nursing assistants or have a license as a certified nursing assistant.
• Minimum of 6 months experience as a CNA or clinical experience during CNA training.
• Desire to serve the ill, aged and infirm.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to deal tactfully with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
• Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Must have patience, cheerfulness, enthusiasm, and engage with residents appropriately.
• Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
• Able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset residents.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties per facility policies and nursing care procedures.
• Make rounds at shift start and every two hours to provide care.
• Verify resident identity before care or meals.
• Make beds and clean bedside tables.
• Serve water and ensure accessibility to residents.
• Dress residents and assist with dressing as needed.
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding as required.
• Serve nourishments according to procedures.
• Assist with therapy, activities, and physician visits as needed.
• Keep residents clean, dry and comfortable; change linens as needed.
• Monitor nurse call system and respond promptly to calls.
• Report any issues or incidents to Charge Nurse.
• Attend in-service training and meetings as directed.
• Other duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
