Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant/Direct Care Giver in Elkhart, IN. You will assist residents with daily living activities, encourage independence, and support engagement in community activities.

You will report changes, maintain confidentiality, and participate in training to ensure quality care. Flexibility for weekends/holidays, CPR/First Aid certification preferred or within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current CNA license from the state where the community is located and remain in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Must be organized and able to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
• Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow the instructions of the supervisor.
• Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and coworkers at all times.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push or carry up to 25 lbs.
• Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
• Must wear the designated uniform during working hours, including a name badge, and maintain a welcoming, positive attitude.
• Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living.
• Report incidents and care concerns to appropriate staff and document accordingly.
• Perform housekeeping duties in resident rooms and common areas.
• Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergencies.
• Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
• Assist residents to and from dining rooms and activities.
• Check on residents and ensure attendance at meals and activities.
• Communicate status, appointments, admissions, and transfers to the team.
• Provide emotional support during move-in and orientation processes.
• Document changes and interventions in logs and clinical records.
• Notify family members or responsible parties as directed.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.
