Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Herndon, VA is seeking a CNA/Direct Care Giver to provide quality care, assist with daily living activities, and encourage residents to maintain independence. You will support residents with meals, mobility, and participation in community activities.

Candidates must hold an active CNA license, be able to lift and transfer residents, have CPR/First Aid certification or be willing to obtain it within 60 days, and be reliable for a flexible schedule including weekends and

Qualifications

• Must possess current CNA license from the State in which the community is located and in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
• Contribute to nursing team and follow supervisor instructions.
• Polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers.
• Able to walk and stand for extended periods.
• Able to lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs.
• Ability to safely lift and transfer residents with proper body mechanics.
• CPR/First Aid certification required or willing to obtain within 60 days.
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
• Attend and complete required in-services and staff meetings.
• Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents with activities of daily living.
• Reports incidents involving residents and completes appropriate documentation.
• Performs housekeeping duties as directed by supervisor.
• Responds promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts.
• Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
• Assists residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities.
• Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, appointments, admissions, and transfers.
• Assists new residents with move-in transition and provides emotional support.
• Reports changes and interventions in the Daily Log and clinical record; notifies family as directed.
• Completes all other duties as assigned.
