Job summary

Bethesda Health Group is seeking a dedicated Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) to provide patient care and support within a long-term care setting in St. Louis. You will assist with hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, and safety under the direction of the Charge Nurse.

Responsibilities include accurate charting, vital signs, resident orientation, and timely responses to call lights. The role requires physical stamina and proper lifting techniques to support residents weighing 200+ lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification in the state you will be working.
• CPR certification, or willing to obtain within six months of employment.
• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills to interact verbally with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Ability to manage time and organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary.
• Ability to transfer and move patients who vary with ability to assist weighing 200+lbs using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary.
• Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40lbs using proper techniques and with assistance when necessary.
• Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment.
• Ability to physically perform necessary documentation in writing or use of tape recorder.
• Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish color.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care related support including hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination and safety as directed by Charge Nurse.
• Documents appropriately into patient record charting based on skill level.
• Orientates new resident to the facility and unit; ensure admission kit and armband.
• Answer call lights promptly and respond to resident needs; perform rounds as assigned.
• Take vital signs and weights; report to Charge Nurse promptly.
• Maintain supplies and equipment; alert when more are needed.
• Enter charge items per departmental procedure and complete shifts reporting.
• Interacts with team members and managers; maintain confidentiality.
• Gives report to Charge Nurse at shift end; may take on reassignment as needed.
