Job summary

UES in Charleston, SC, seeks a Construction Materials Testing Project Manager II to lead CMT projects from proposal to completion, managing scope, schedule, budget, and quality to meet client specs and regulatory requirements.

You will mentor junior staff, coordinate field technicians and lab support, and work across engineering, safety, and operations to deliver reliable results in hybrid office and field environments; travel up to 40% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years of CMT/inspection experience for non‑degreed candidates.
• Certifications in relevant testing/inspection (ACI, ICC, ATTI, Nuclear Safety) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO standards and ability to interpret specs.
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects, with good organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project data reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage assigned CMT projects from proposal through completion, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality goals are met.
• Develop project estimates, scopes of work, and proposals with technical and business development teams.
• Coordinate and allocate resources, including field technicians and laboratory support.
• Communicate proactively with clients, address questions, and maintain strong relationships.
• Monitor project financial performance including cost control, budgeting, and profitability analysis.
• Provide technical oversight for field and lab work, ensuring compliance with standards (ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, ICC).
• Conduct or supervise field inspections and testing on higher‑complexity projects as needed.
• Review and approve project reports, timesheets, and client documentation.
• Support development of junior project managers and field staff through training and mentorship.
• Promote safety protocols and regulatory compliance on job sites.
• Identify add‑on or follow‑up opportunities through client engagement and site presence.
• Prepare and deliver clear technical reports for stakeholders.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, laboratory, safety, and operations teams.
