Job summary

ECS Group of Companies (ECS) is seeking a CMT Intern Level I to observe and perform routine field and laboratory testing tasks supporting construction materials projects. You will gain experience in data collection, documentation, and testing activities under supervision while learning practices and workflows.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• One certification must be completed within 90 days of starting.
• All basic certifications must be completed within 270 days, including Radiation Safety, Soils I, and Concrete I.
• Valid driver's license required if driving for ECS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, organized work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to work in outdoor environments and field conditions.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction materials observation and testing in field and lab.
• Observe testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Document site conditions and test results in field reports.
• Prepare and organize field and lab equipment.
• Perform basic data entry, calculations, and data reduction.
• Communicate with field staff, contractors, and project team members.
• Keep supervisors informed of changing site conditions or testing needs.
• Review laboratory results and support project documentation.
• Support laboratory testing activities including sample prep, curing, and testing.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of field and lab areas.
• Notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Attend project meetings with senior staff as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
