Job summary

UES, a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and materials testing, seeks a Construction Materials Testing Engineer with an active PE license to join our Memphis team. The role blends technical oversight, field collaboration, and client engagement across soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and reinforcing steel.

You will mentor field technicians and junior staff while ensuring compliance with ASTM, ACI, ICC, DOT, and project standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or quality control.
• EIT certification required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis/reporting tools.
• Strong communication, analytical, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in office, lab, and field environments.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight for construction materials testing and inspection projects.
• Manage CMT projects from planning and coordination through completion.
• Coordinate field testing and inspection activities with contractors, clients, project managers, and internal teams.
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, staffing, and deliverables.
• Mentor and develop technicians and junior engineering staff.
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations based on test results.
• Ensure testing and inspection activities comply with ASTM, ACI, ICC, DOT, and project standards.
• Support business development and client relationships.
• Perform occasional site visits to observe field conditions and provide engineering support.
