Job summary

UES, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Engineer focusing on Construction Materials Testing. This role requires a Professional Engineer license and will involve technical review, signing reports, and oversight of testing for soil, concrete, asphalt, and more. Travel up to 40% may be required.

The candidate will manage CMT projects, coordinate with field and lab teams, and mentor junior staff while supporting client engagements throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Construction, or Geotechnical Engineering.
• 5+ years of progressive engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
• Valid driver’s license; travel as needed.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of codes, standards and risk management.
• Effective communication and leadership; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Review, approve, and sign/seal materials testing reports.
• Provide technical oversight for construction materials testing activities.
• Support project teams with technical questions and testing discrepancies.
• Serve as technical resource for clients, contractors, and staff.
• Provide guidance and resolve complex field/project issues.
• Manage CMT projects: scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, deliverables.
• Review lab and field results for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with field technicians, laboratories, engineers, and project managers.
• Train and mentor engineers, interns, technicians and staff.
• Participate in client meetings and provide engineering expertise.
• Assist with proposals, planning, scope development, and other PM activities.
• Perform additional engineering and project management responsibilities.
