Job summary

HDR is seeking a Construction Management Services Section Leader in California to lead a CMS team, oversee project execution, and support business development. The role emphasizes staff mentoring, safety compliance, and cross-functional collaboration across sections to deliver high-quality projects.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 10+ years of experience, and active professional registration.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and support a team within the CMS Business Class.
• Manage workload and adjust staff assignments as needed to deliver quality products.
• Provide oversight and mentorship on projects.
• Select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel.
• Support hiring initiatives for the CMS Business Class.
• Assist with administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections.
• Implement, monitor and support company policy.
• Support project management activities including planning, directing and monitoring.
• Prepare and update project schedules, pay requests, progress reports, budgets, and schedule management reports.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with the Health and Safety Program through communication and inspections.
• Coordinate local bidding efforts.
• Take responsibility for project setup and temporary facilities.
• Participate in business development, including client interaction, proposal development, and participation in professional societies.
• Support implementing QA/QC procedures, and for the execution of training for personnel as established by BC leadership.
• Mentor local project staff that are less experienced Project Managers to help develop their professional growth.
• Be active in recruitment and hiring.
• Perform other duties as needed
