D-J Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented CMM Operator to join our Quality Assurance team on 2nd Shift. In this role, you will run pre-programmed CMM routines to perform dimensional inspection on precision aerospace components, ensuring all parts meet strict quality standards and engineering specifications.

Shift: 2nd Shift (Monday - Thursday, 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM)

Note: This is primarily an operator position focused on running existing programs, loading/unloading parts, and verifying dimensional compliance. Full CMM programming is not required, though the ability to make minor program adjustments or edits is a definite plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Setup, load, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using pre-written programs.
• Make minor program edits or adjustments as needed to ensure smooth operation and accurate measurements.
• Perform precision dimensional inspections on complex machined and fabricated aerospace parts.
• Troubleshooting & Product Acceptance: Proactively troubleshoot inspection discrepancies and utilize all available customer engineering documentation (blueprints, specifications, model data, and acceptance standards) to identify opportunities for valid product acceptance.
• Interpret inspection results, printouts, and reports to determine part compliance.
• Perform manual inspections using standard precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges).
• Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming material following standard operating procedures.
• Maintain clean work areas, inspect tooling/fixtures, and adhere to all safety and AS9100 quality assurance standards.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 1-3 years of experience operating a CMM in a quality assurance environment (aerospace experience preferred).
• Technical Skills: Experience running pre-written CMM routines; basic knowledge of CMM code/routines to perform minor editing is a strong plus.
• Blueprints & Documentation: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, customer specifications, and standard GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) callouts.
• Hand Tools: Proficiency with standard shop floor measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, indicators, depth gauges).
• Schedule & Availability: Ability to work Monday through Friday from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, with flexibility for extra hours during peak production demand.
• Attention to Detail: Strong record-keeping skills and high precision in documenting inspection results.
