Job summary

UnityPoint Health seeks a compassionate CMA or LPN for Internal Medicine. The role supports exams, treatments and patient education in a busy clinic. Open to CMA/MA graduates or LPNs, with a focus on accurate charting and safe, efficient patient care.

Full-time position with benefits; a $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for external hires. Workdays include Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri with potential location adjustments as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid LPN license in state of practice or compact license.
• Graduate of an accredited CMA/MA program or equivalent certification.
• Experience in outpatient clinical settings preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC EHR is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams, treatments, and minor procedures, including obtaining vital signs.
• Support with vaccinations, labs, EKGs and other tests as needed.
• Provide patient education and ensure timely, high-quality care.
• Coordinate referrals and follow-up to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and assist with clinic operations.
• Adhere to OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA and professional standards.

We are seeking a compassionate clinical professional to join our team. This position is open to Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) , OR Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) . This clinical professional will provide support in patient care, assisting with exams, treatments, and patient education.

Responsibilities

• Support providers and clinical teams by preparing patients for exams, treatments, and minor procedures, including obtaining vital signs and assisting with in-clinic workflows.
• Perform clinical tasks within scope such as administering medications and vaccines, collecting lab specimens, drawing blood, placing urinary catheters, and supporting specialty services (e.g., EKGs and cardiac testing support in cardiology settings).
• Deliver patient education using evidence-based methods and ensure high-quality, timely care.
• Coordinate referrals, lab orders, and follow-up care to support continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate electronic health record documentation, complete required forms with appropriate coding, and manage tracking systems for ongoing patient monitoring and test follow-up.
• Stay engaged in clinic operations through meetings, communications, and organizational updates.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and organizational policies while demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, reliable attendance, and a strong commitment to patient experience and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Valid and current licensure/certification in one of the following:
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Active/Unencumbered LPN license in state of practice or compact license including state of practice.
• OR Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate's Degree) required.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
• National Healthcare Association
• American Association of Medical Assistants
• National Center for Competency Testing
• National Certified Medical Assistant
• National Association of Health Professionals
• American Registry of Medical Assistants
• American Allied Health
• American Medical Technologists
• Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred
• Familiarity with EPIC is a plus!
