Responsibilities

A Sales Specialist will be responsible for applying basic and some advanced skills in procedures and techniques specific to their area of specialization. The role includes:

1. Identifying and addressing high priority activities first.
2. Providing excellent customer service.
3. Organizing, cleaning, and preparing the back area for incoming deliveries.
4. Keeping the sales floor uncluttered and free from spills.
5. Stocking, rotating items as needed, and maintaining standards in shrink, safety, and inventory control.
6. Resetting products and maintaining shelf conditions, ensuring integrity of shelf tags and signage in the department.
7. Checking shipments for out-of-date and damaged products to ensure freshness and quality.
8. Ensuring that all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation are met.
9. Assisting in merchandising the department to maximize sales.
10. Using suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales.

Experience and Education Preferred

• Typically requires 2-5 years of experience.
• Knowledge of department products, food preparation, and equipment.
• Extensive knowledge of specialty food products and food preparation is essential.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Passion for food.
• Materials Handling Equipment certification.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
• Previous retail/restaurant experience required.

Physical and Other Requirements

Must be able to manage in excess of 25 lbs., up to 50 lbs.
