Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club is seeking an Assistant Club Manager in Training to lead departments, drive club performance, and develop talent with a strong focus on service and safety.

Working closely with the Club Manager, you’ll oversee Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience, ensure GOLD standards, and mentor a large team across shifts. This role requires ServSafe certification, forklift readiness, and a commitment to daily operations, audits, and excellent member service.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a retail store, supermarket, or warehouse operations manager.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a large team.
• Open shift availability and 18+ years of age.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
• Forklift operator certification required.
• Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, MS Excel, Email) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic department leadership across Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience, emphasizing business acumen and accountability.
• Recruit, hire, and onboard team members, including interviewing and staffing decisions.
• Oversee labor planning and scheduling aligned with trends and budgets.
• Drive sales, inventory control, and shrink management through accurate execution.
• Champion Member Experience standards: GAA, GOLD, and LAST in all departments.
• Maintain compliance and safety; lead internal/external audits and resolve issues.
• Utilize BJ’s MY WORK system to execute daily tasks and initiatives.
• Operate forklifts in accordance with safety protocols when assigned.
• Maintain regular, predictable attendance as an essential function.
