Job summary

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains in Brookings, SD (and/or Flandreau, SD) is seeking a part-time Cook to manage the kitchen and café operations. Responsibilities include food ordering, preparation, cooking, serving, and maintaining cleanliness to meet licensing and health standards.

Must complete Food Safe training, support youth-focused programs, and assist with events across sites as needed. Flexible hours align with school-year and summer schedules.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with youth is preferred.
• Must be available Monday–Friday during school year and extended summer hours.
• Experience in commercial kitchen and food service.
• Ability to apply behavior management and youth treatment principles.
• Model and reinforce club values with youth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee kitchen and café operations including food orders, preparation, cooking, serving and cleaning.
• Assist Kitchen Manager with weekly inventory and food deliveries.
• Unpack pallets and stock orders.
• Complete Food Safe training and maintain health standards.
• Assist with program development for Café and nutritional menus.
• Support events and work across Club locations as needed.
• Attend monthly all-staff meetings and weekly supervisor meetings.
