Job summary

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains in Milbank, SD is seeking a part-time Cook to oversee the kitchen and café, manage food orders, prepare meals, serve customers, and maintain cleanliness in compliance with licensing and health requirements.

Responsibilities include meal preparation for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and suppers, unloading orders, leading food safety efforts, assisting with program development for the Café, and supporting events across club locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with youth of ages Preschool through 12th Grade is preferred.
• Must be available Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 7:00pm during the school year and from 7:00am to 6:00pm during the summer.
• Experience working in commercial kitchen.
• Experience working in food service.
• Must be able to understand, implement, and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.
• Must be able to model and reinforce the Boys and Girls Club values while working with youth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation of Club Meals, Breakfast, Lunch, Snack and/or Supper, as needed.
• Unload pallets and food orders.
• Maintain Food Safe standards and ensure kitchen meets health requirements.
• Keep the kitchen and café clean and sanitized, including dishes.
• Assist with program development for Café and creating nutritional menus.
• Support with special events at the Club.
• Assist at primary location with support to other Club locations as needed.
• Assist with meal preparation and kitchen operations at alternate locations when needed.
• Lead the implementation and completion of grants programs as assigned.
• Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisor and seasonal team meetings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
