Job summary

Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains seeks a Cook to oversee the kitchen and café operations at our Brookings and Flandreau sites. You will handle food orders, prep, cooking, serving and post-meal cleaning, ensuring licensing and health standards are met.

You'll support inventory, deliveries, and event meal prep while upholding the Club's values and safety protocols; you may assist at alternate locations as needed and participate in monthly staff meetings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with youth Preschool–12th grade preferred.
• Availability Monday–Friday 8am–7pm during the school year; 7am–6pm during summer.
• Experience in commercial kitchen and food service.
• Ability to understand, implement and demonstrate behavior management and safety concepts.
• Model and reinforce Boys and Girls Club values while working with youth.

Responsibilities

• Oversee kitchen and café operations including food orders, prep, cooking, serving, and post-meal cleaning.
• Assist Kitchen Manager with inventory and food deliveries.
• Unload pallets and food orders.
• Ensure Food Safe training and licensing standards are met.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and cafe.
• Assist with program development for Café and nutritious menus.
• Support events at the Club and across sites as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings and ensure team attendance.
