Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology in Tampa, FL seeks a Software Engineer to support an internet-based social media program. You will help develop tools and applications for content creation, translation workflows, approval processes, publication, and audience engagement tracking.

You will build systems for metrics management, user interaction monitoring, and analytics, with emphasis on web development and cloud engineering. Training on program-specific workflows will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field required.
• 3–5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance preferred; eligible to obtain.
• Experience with cloud-based web applications or data engineering tools is desirable.
• Location: Tampa, FL customer site.

Responsibilities

• Assists in coding tools and applications that support content dissemination, translation, approval, and publication processes.
• Develops capabilities to manage metrics data, user comments, feedback, and social media engagement analytics.
• Supports testing activities to verify software performance and compliance with functional requirements.
• Works with developers, data engineers, and data scientists to create web applications for collecting and managing data.
• Develops web applications using Ruby on Rails or Django/Python on Linux, deployed in AWS environments using MySQL and Redshift databases.
• Builds and operates scalable, secure systems on AWS, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Participates in Agile project management methodologies across the full SDLC.
• Uses Confluence, Jira, Slack, and other team tools to manage tasks.
• Reviews project capabilities to ensure robust, scalable solutions, incorporating new technologies as appropriate.
• Provides Python-based support for database engineering efforts, including AWS Lambda integration.
• Helps design and refine tools that improve data ingestion, transformation, reporting, and analytics workflows.
• Works closely with technical teams and program stakeholders to ensure software solutions meet mission requirements.
• Clarifies assumptions, refines requirements, and provides technical recommendations to improve platform effectiveness.
• Presents findings, progress updates, and technical considerations in clear, actionable written and verbal formats.
