Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology seeks a Cloud Application Engineer to modernize the NIAID hosting platform. You will define infrastructure in Terraform, deploy Windows/IIS workloads, manage SQL Server databases, and build CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and CodeBuild.

You will help move on‑prem workloads to AWS, implement robust monitoring, and collaborate with developers to enable self‑service automation. Some after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or equivalent with 6–8 years related exp.
• Hands-on AWS exp across IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Route 53, SSM, CloudTrail.
• Experience authoring Terraform modules from scratch and managing remote state.
• 5+ years deploying and troubleshooting Windows Server 2019/2022/2025 with IIS and .NET workloads.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and harden Windows applications on Windows Server and IIS.
• Administer SQL Server databases and migrations across on-prem and RDS.
• Define AWS infrastructure as code in Terraform and manage state.
• Build deployment pipelines with GitHub Actions and AWS CodeBuild.
• Front Windows apps with load balancers and WAF services; implement TLS/SSL.
• Instrument platform with dashboards, SLAs, and alerts.
• Migrate on-prem apps to AWS and modernize architecture.
• Collaborate with owners and engineers; implement web services and data hosting.
• Automate routine ops to enable self-service tasks.
• Monitor health and respond to outages; document processes.
• Present DevOps and cloud practices to team; occasional after-hours work.
