Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team across multiple sites in OH, MN, WI, TX, SD. You will own cloud and on-prem systems, drive modernization, and lead deployment of scalable infrastructure with hands-on technical ownership.

The role requires strong Windows Server and AD administration, Azure experience, and proficiency in PowerShell. Travel up to 10% may be required, with flexibility for extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; years of experience may substitute.
• Microsoft certifications are preferred.
• 5-7 years of Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
• Experience administering Azure cloud environments.
• PowerShell and other programming/scripting languages experience.
• Enterprise identity management using Azure.
• LAN/WAN networking to support servers/AD.
• Enterprise backups and disaster recovery strategies.
• Intermediate knowledge of IT security best practices.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring/alerting platforms (System Center, SolarWinds Orion, Splunk).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
• Provide advanced technical support and manage incidents.
• Monitor system performance and address issues.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective measures.
• Design and implement system improvements.
• Lead major IT infrastructure projects.
• Create clear technical documentation and knowledge materials.
• Maintain relationships with staff, contractors, and outsourced providers.
• Support disaster recovery exercises and business continuity.
• Use PowerShell scripting to automate tasks and improve processes.
• Work with limited direction while delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
• Travel up to 10% and accommodate extended hours/weekends as needed.
