Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer to join our IT infrastructure team across multiple U.S. locations (Cambridge, OH; Houston, TX; Owatonna, MN; Rice Lake, WI; Akron, OH; Sioux Falls, SD).

The role centers on deploying system infrastructures with hands-on ownership of cloud and on-prem environments. You will design, maintain, and optimize cloud environments, manage incidents in ServiceNow, and collaborate with internal teams and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; years of experience may substitute.
• Microsoft or other IT certifications preferred.
• 5-7 years of experience in Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
• Experience administering public cloud environments; Azure preferred.
• PowerShell and other scripting languages experience.
• Enterprise Identity Management using Azure experience.
• LAN/WAN networking knowledge to support servers and AD.
• Experience with enterprise backups and disaster recovery strategies.
• Intermediate IT security best practices knowledge.
• Experience with monitoring/alerting platforms like System Center, SolarWinds, Orion, Splunk.

• Provides advanced technical support and manages ServiceNow incidents.
• Proactively monitors system performance and addresses issues.
• Performs root cause analysis and implements corrective measures.

• Provides clear and detailed technical documentation and knowledge materials.
• Maintains relationships with staff, contractors, and providers.
• Demonstrates a customer service oriented attitude when supporting users.
• Uses analytical and technical skills to resolve issues with urgency.
• Participates in disaster recovery exercises and supports business continuity.
• Uses PowerShell scripting to support systems administration and improve processes.
• Delivers results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with limited direction.

• Successfully works with limited direction while delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Is willing and able to travel up to 10% and work extended hours/weekends as needed to support business and infrastructure needs.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field. Will consider years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Microsoft or other relevant IT certifications are preferred.
• 5-7 years of experience in Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
• Experience administering public cloud environments, Azure preferred.
• Experience with PowerShell and other programming/scripting languages.
• Experience with Enterprise level Identity Management using Azure.
• Working knowledge of LAN/WAN networking to supporting server and Active Directory.
• Experience with enterprise backups and disaster recovery strategies.
• Intermediate knowledge of and ability to implement semi-complex IT security best practices.
• Experience with enterprise-grade monitoring, alerting, and management platforms such as System Center, Solar Winds Orion, Splunk, etc.

The salary range for this position is $92K-$112K with the potential to earn an annual
