Job summary

Allstate in Indiana is seeking a Managing Engineer for Cloud Security Engineering to lead a hands-on team building cloud security capabilities integrated into production. This role requires guiding architecture, delivery, and security controls across cloud platforms.

You will partner with product managers, platform teams, and engineers to align priorities, mentor engineers, and drive secure-by-default practices in cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software, cloud, platform, or security engineering experience.
• 2+ years of experience leading and developing engineers through people leadership and hands‑on technical guidance.
• Deep experience securing cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including cloud-native services, architectures, and security controls.
• Strong engineering proficiency with Python, Bash, Terraform, and cloud-native automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an engineering team delivering cloud security controls as software products, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Set technical direction and drive high-quality execution across design, implementation, deployment, and production support of cloud security capabilities.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture and design reviews, technical decision-making, code reviews, and support for critical implementation work.
• Own the reliability, performance, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of the team’s products in production.
• Partner with Digital Product Managers, platform teams, and engineering stakeholders to align roadmaps, priorities, dependencies, and delivery plans.
• Build a strong engineering culture centered on modern delivery practices (test‑driven development, pair programming), fast feedback, technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Translate complex cloud security needs into scalable engineering solutions, reusable patterns, and automated capabilities.
• Lead effective agile execution while keeping the team focused on delivery outcomes rather than process or ceremony.
