Job summary

Allstate is seeking a Managing Engineer, Cloud Security Engineering to lead a hands-on security team responsible for building and operating cloud security capabilities. You will partner with product managers, cloud platform teams, and developers to integrate preventive, detective, and responsive controls into cloud platforms and developer workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software, cloud, platform, or security engineering with production systems reliability.
• 2+ years in people leadership and hands-on guidance, architecture reviews, and code reviews.
• Deep experience securing cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Strong programming and scripting in Python, Bash, Terraform, and cloud automation tools.
• Ability to translate security requirements into scalable engineering solutions and automated controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an engineering team delivering cloud security controls as software products, including hiring and coaching.
• Set technical direction and drive delivery from design through production support.
• Provide hands-on leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, and critical implementation support.
• Own reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of products in production.
• Partner with Digital Product Managers and platform teams to align roadmaps and priorities.
• Foster an engineering culture with modern delivery practices (TDD, pair programming, fast feedback).
• Translate complex cloud security needs into reusable patterns and automated capabilities.
• Lead agile execution focused on delivery outcomes.
