Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Sr Lead Cloud Security Engineer to ensure security, compliance, and resilience of cloud environments, focusing on PaC and IaC practices. You will implement security controls, use CSPM tooling, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with security champions across units.

The role emphasizes Azure and AWS security design, IaC with Terraform, and aligning with CIS/NIST 800-53.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in public cloud engineering or development.
• 5+ years in IT as engineer, developer, or architect with cybersecurity focus.
• Strong IaC experience with Terraform.
• Proficient in Python and related DevOps tooling.
• Experience with Git-based CI/CD, e.g., GitHub Actions.
• Understanding of CIS/NIST 800-53 security controls.
• Knowledge of cloud architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and support security measures for cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Develop Policy as Code and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform; align with CIS/NIST 800-53.
• Utilize CSPM tools such as Wiz and Microsoft Defender for Cloud to enforce controls.
• Collaborate with security champions across business units.
• Contribute to the cloud security roadmap and ongoing hardening.
• Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and configuration reviews.
• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes.
• Mentor junior team members.
