Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to design, administer, and optimize Linux-based infrastructure supporting a global customer base and data center operations.

You will work across systems, applications and networking, maintaining secure environments and helping scale the platform. The role requires independence, technical drive, and strong communication to collaborate with engineering, operations, and data center teams.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux systems (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for non-routine issues.
• Scripting proficiency in Bash or Python.
• Familiarity with virtualization, networking, or software development is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with web servers, databases, and firewalls.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades, enhancements, and infrastructure changes to support scalability and reliability.
• Administer and maintain Linux servers and services, diagnosing and resolving performance, stability, or security issues.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for Linux-related issues and define remediation strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to support new data center deployments and readiness.
• Perform migrations, evaluate dependencies, risks, and execution approaches.
• Monitor system performance and security posture, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Develop automation, scripts, and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Create and maintain technical docs, diagrams, and standards for future scaling.
• Coordinate across teams to align systems with platform reliability and business goals.
