Job summary

WEX is seeking a Principal AI/ML Engineer to design and own the cloud-native AI/ML engineering platform, enabling GenAI and traditional AI/ML workloads.

You will lead architecture, engineering best practices, and cross-functional collaboration across Data Lake, Security, and product teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for a fast-growing commerce and payment tech company.

Qualifications

• 15-20 years of software design and development experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java and Python.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms and AI/ML.
• Mentorship and leadership experience.
• Security, reliability, and production-grade software engineering expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of technology and platform for AI/ML engineering needs.
• Design architecture and implement AI/ML infrastructure, platform and services.
• Drive high-quality, secure, scalable AI/ML solutions for multiple lines of business.
• Mentor engineers and uphold engineering best practices and OKRs.
• Partner with security, SRE, data science, and product teams to deliver integrated platforms.
