Job summary

WEX is transforming into a data-driven enterprise with a modern DaaS platform. As a Principal Staff Software Engineer, you will shape the data stack end-to-end, unifying data acquisition, semantic modeling, and data products to serve analytics, AI, and customer experiences.

You’ll lead across domains, set platform standards, and mentor senior engineers while driving adoption of cloud-native technologies and best practices for reliability and governance.

Qualifications

• 12–15+ years of software/platform engineering experience, building and scaling data platforms.
• Experience with data lifecycle management, versioning, auditability, observability, and lineage.
• Ability to set cross-domain architectural standards and influence multiple teams.
• Strong background in streaming and batch data ecosystems (Kafka, Flink, Spark, DBT).
• Proven leadership, communication, and consensus-building across business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect the DaaS platform end-to-end, defining ingestion, semantic modeling, metadata, and product delivery.
• Establish platform standards and reusable frameworks for adoption across domains.
• Guide data architecture with senior leaders to align with strategic objectives and scale for billions of records.
• Mentor senior engineers and architects, promoting distributed systems best practices and reliability.
• Drive innovation with open-source and cloud-native technologies (Spark, Iceberg, Kafka, Delta, DBT, Ray).
