Job summary

Harmonic in San Jose, CA (hybrid) is seeking a Software Engineer to join a globally dispersed team working on Harmonic’s clustered compute platform and edge applications. You will design, develop, and maintain cloud-native software for a Kubernetes-based environment that supports virtualized DOCSIS and PON solutions.

The role emphasizes C++ and Python, microservices, RESTful APIs, and rigorous unit testing, with occasional on-site work and a focus on security and scalable architecture.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in C++ and Python.
• Understanding of computer networking technologies.
• Understanding of computer architecture.
• Experience with LLMs and writing agentic workflows.
• Experience with microservices and RESTful APIs that scale horizontally across compute nodes.
• Ability to troubleshoot applications end-to-end across networks and microservices.
• Expertise delivering high-quality code with extensive unit tests.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native software for Harmonic’s clustered computing platform to support virtualized DOCSIS and PON solutions.
• Integrate open-source technologies into Harmonic’s clustered computing platform.
• Design and implement enhancements for existing software components.
• Design and implement microservices and RESTful APIs that scale horizontally across multiple compute nodes.
• Perform root cause analysis of issues in production environments and provide solutions.
• Troubleshoot applications end-to-end across networks and microservices.
• Adhere to best practices and standards in technology and security.
• Stay current with advancements in technology and evaluate how new technologies can be leveraged to improve business solutions.
