Job summary

Axos Bank in San Diego, CA is seeking an experienced Conversational AI Engineer to design, build, and support advanced conversational solutions across our omnichannel ecosystem, with a focus on Google CCAS and Dialogflow on GCP.

You will work across the full stack—from conversational design to backend services and cloud infrastructure—delivering scalable, secure AI pipelines, resilient integrations, and production readiness for enterprise-grade customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI or related field.
• 3+ years experience in software development, cloud platforms/architecture, or related IT role.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Cloud Run, API Gateway, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Vertex AI or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript; backend services development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to translate ambiguous requirements into actionable technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support conversational AI solutions across omnichannel platforms with a focus on Google CCAS and Dialogflow.
• Provide production support for conversational platforms; troubleshoot logic, webhook failures, integrations, logs and dashboards.
• Define and uphold production readiness standards for observability, reliability, performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Design and implement microservices-based architectures to support conversational AI and workflows.
• Create reusable frameworks and common components to accelerate development and ensure consistency.
