Job summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to support WaveMark Solutions, a cloud-based clinical supply chain platform. You will own production and non-production reliability, uptime, performance, security, automation of maintenance tasks and deployments, and DR strategies for cloud databases.

You will collaborate with software development and IT teams to improve observability, resilience and continuous delivery, while ensuring HIPAA compliance and secure data governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years managing production Oracle databases in a regulated healthcare environment preferred.
• Experience with Oracle database administration and cloud platforms such as AWS RDS or GCP preferred.
• Knowledge of database automation, scripting, and deployment processes preferred.
• Familiarity with observability frameworks and telemetry-driven operations preferred.
• Knowledge of site reliability engineering principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, automated remediation) preferred.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD platforms and Infrastructure as Code preferred.
• Understanding of healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, FedRAMP, HITRUST) preferred.
• Familiarity with CDC technologies preferred.
• Experience with Kubernetes-based environments preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases in managed cloud environments.
• Build and manage monitoring, auditing, logging, and alerting systems.
• Establish and maintain operational standards, documentation, and runbooks.
• Support application deployments and database releases.
• Analyze and optimize database performance across environments.
• Perform root cause analysis of performance incidents.
• Design and automate database refresh processes between environments.
• Design data masking for non-production environments.
• Collaborate on regulatory audits and data governance initiatives.
• Enhance security controls and secret management in collaboration with security teams.
• Partner with development teams to modernize deployment automation and data movement architectures.
• Design and test backup, restore, replication, and DR strategies.
