Job summary

Travelers Data Engineering team is hiring a Data Engineer to build and deploy data solutions that support AI, ML, and BI initiatives across the enterprise. You will translate data stories into scalable pipelines, applying governance and quality controls as you collaborate with partners and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings 6 years of experience, strong SQL, and hands-on work with dbt, Databricks, PySpark, and AWS in a data-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM field or equivalent.
• Six years of related experience.
• Experience in data transformation using the dbt tool and/or Databricks PySpark.
• Experience building data pipelines using AWS cloud services and Databricks.
• Experience using AI tools to improve productivity.
• Strong skills in SQL.
• Experience interacting with business partners on requirements, design, and solutions.
• Proficient use of cloud platforms and programming languages.
• Ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace and decompose work into small releases.
• Demonstrated domain expertise and understanding of systems.
• Proven problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Leadership – intermediate with self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Build and operationalize complex data solutions and ensure data quality.
• Design data solutions for analytics needs.
• Analyze data sources and determine value for analytical processes.
• Incorporate data governance, security, and quality practices.
• Collaborate across teams to support delivery and educate end users.
• Perform data and system analysis and resolve defects.
• Test data movement and transformations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
