Job summary

Kustomer seeks an Infrastructure Engineer to own cost optimization across cloud and AI infrastructure. You will lead AWS cost-reduction initiatives, right-size EC2 fleets, and partner with engineering to reduce waste while maintaining performance and reliability.

You will build tooling and dashboards, work with our Foundation team on developer tooling for guardrails, and drive cost-aware architectural decisions across the stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of AWS infrastructure experience at scale with a proven cost-reduction track record.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cost tools (Cost Explorer, CUR, Trusted Advisor) and EC2 right-sizing.
• Proficiency with Terraform or other IaC tools and Go/Python/JavaScript or similar languages.
• Familiarity with LLM/AI infrastructure cost drivers is a strong plus.
• Think in dollars saved and communicate with engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own AWS cost optimization end-to-end: EC2 right-sizing, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, spot usage, storage tiering, and cleanup.
• Build dashboards and reporting to track infra spend by team/service and flag anomalies.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify and eliminate waste and over-provisioned resources.
• Drive architectural decisions balancing cost, performance, and reliability.
• Use Terraform to codify cost-conscious infrastructure standards.
• Analyze and reduce AI/LLM token spend across the platform; optimize prompts and caching.
• Collaborate with FinOps and finance stakeholders to forecast spend against budget.
