Description

The Closing Paralegal provides clerical support on prelitigation files under the direct supervision of their Attorney and Paralegal Manager. The position will assist attorney(s) by providing support services including document preparation and review; communicating with clients, and other administrative duties related to the closure of the case.

Primary Tasks:
  • Case Management
  • Logging daily mail and drafting necessary correspondence for day-to-day case management
  • Balance verifications
  • Assistance with the resolution and protection of all subrogation lien interests
  • Preparation of file for litigation transfer when necessary
  • Assist Attorney with settlement paperwork and disbursements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Meet goals set by management
  • Communicate and correspond with clients, Attorney, and insurance adjusters regarding case status
  • Maintain consistent client contacts
  • Prepare weekly reports
  • Attend monthly team meetings
  • Attend quarterly meetings (mandatory)
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance
Requirements
Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings, and processes
  • Familiarity with clerical and general office procedures
  • Excellent command of English grammar, usage, punctuation, and spelling
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task while staying organized
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and use good judgment
Attributes:
Experience and Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in fields such as insurance, medical billing, insurance verification, or accounting
  • Preferably a Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
  • Work environment is a professional office setting with exposure to computer screens and low noise levels

This is a Monday - Friday in-office position.
