Job summary

UNC Health Hillsborough Campus seeks a Clinical Support Technician II to support patient care and unit operations. The role involves assisting the professional caregiver, transporting patients and equipment, maintaining patient rooms, and handling a range of clerical tasks on the 1st Floor Medicine Unit.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, NC Nursing Assistant I/II licensure, BLS, and clerical experience. Rotation includes weekends; 36 hours weekly with day/evening shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• Listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
• Licensed as a Nursing Assistant II by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Critically review patient care documentation noting significant changes and report to RN or physician.
• Provide clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, research information, review and revise orders, answer calls, transcribe orders, maintain medical records; perform QA audits.
• Provide administrative and clerical support including PI audits and data entry
• Provide clinical support: clean work area, troubleshoot equipment, change linens, check inventories, transport patients/supplies, orient new staff.
• Provide direct personal care per care plan: bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation; measure vital signs; collect specimens; wound care; IV care; catheter care; tubing care; ostomy care; suctioning; oxygen setup.
• Reinforce routine teaching, distribute patient education materials.
