Position Overview

The Clinical Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing and guiding supervisees within Meridian Counseling. This position involves providing clinical supervision, ensuring the quality of client care, supporting the professional development of the supervisory team, and managing their work.

Responsibilities
Clinical Supervision
  • Provide regular triadic supervision to Associate Psychotherapists.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical work while offering guidance, feedback, and support.
  • Promote collaboration and a growth-oriented mindset.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Oversee the management of client cases, ensuring effective treatment planning, use of appropriate interventions, and coordination of care.
  • Request case presentations/video recordings to ensure adherence to clinical protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Staff Management
  • Encourage employee development, measurement, and accountability, highlighting achievements.
  • Coach to achieve successful results and enhance employee satisfaction.
  • Recognize skill gaps and provide training to improve performance and professional development.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to support supervisees’ growth.
  • Work with HR to address employee relations and performance issues promptly and implement corrective actions as needed.
Quality Assurance & Team Collaboration
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance measures to evaluate effectiveness and outcomes of clinical services.
  • Conduct regular audits of clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Address and resolve issues related to the quality of client care.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative supervisory team culture through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as administration and intake to ensure seamless service delivery and timely support for their requests.
Ethical Standards and Compliance
  • Ensure supervisees adhere to ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and legal regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting clinical practice.
  • Address compliance issues promptly in collaboration with leadership and HR, including harassment, bullying, and other discriminatory behaviors.
Supervisory Documentation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supervision sessions, including progress notes and performance evaluations.
  • Prepare reports as needed for organizational leadership.
  • Maintain documentation, including recognition and non-compliance leading to disciplinary action, in partnership with HR.
  • With HR support, prepare corrective action plans when needed to reinforce expectations.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or PhD/PsyD in psychology, social work, or counseling.
  • Clinical licensure (PhD, PsyD) required in the State of California.
  • Proven experience in clinical supervision within a healthcare or mental health setting.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical best practices, treatment modalities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Prior experience leading and managing employees and teams preferred.
