Job Description

UC Health is hiring a Full-Time Clinical Staff Educator (RN) for the Psychiatry department at UC Medical Center.

The Clinical Educator is responsible for providing individualized orientation for new personnel, in-service education, and continuing education programs to meet the needs of staff. The Clinical Educator serves as a resource to the nursing staff, assessing, developing, coordinating, and supporting educational programs to enhance clinical nursing skills. The role also involves modeling and implementing change, and serving as a role model for clinical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in population-appropriate communication.
  • Understand growth and development milestones and tasks.
  • Provide clear instructions regarding treatment to patients and families.
  • Involve family/guardians in assessment and care.
  • Identify physical limitations and deploy interventions.
  • Recognize behavioral health issues and respond appropriately.
  • Interpret population data to plan care.
  • Address psychological, cultural, or religious needs.
  • Perform treatments, administer medication, and operate equipment safely.
  • Recognize signs of abuse or neglect.

Educational Components

  • Identify educational needs of nursing staff.
  • Develop and evaluate in-service and continuing education programs.
  • Create educational materials and facilitate learning experiences.
  • Present educational programs and conferences.
  • Apply nursing and scientific theories in education.

Collaboration and Consultation

  • Work with management to develop strategic plans.
  • Address clinical and educational needs affecting resources.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to set and achieve goals.
  • Support professional growth of the healthcare team.

Job Functions

  • Lead policy development and standards of care.
  • Participate in organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Provide nurse-to-nurse consulting and associate consultation.
  • Consult with other hospital departments and the community.
  • Maintain a safe and organized environment.
  • Participate in organizational committees and quality improvement.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Preferred: Master of Science in a health-related field.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Ohio.
  • Certifications in Psych, Mental Health, NVCI, CPI, or others are preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum: 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: 3-5 years of relevant experience.
