Principle Health Systems in Houston, TX seeks a part-time Technical Specialist to accurately collect, prepare, and process patient specimens while delivering excellent customer service. The role acts as the key liaison between clinic and laboratory to ensure timely, compliant handling of specimens and documentation.

The position requires ability to train non-phlebotomy staff, venipuncture for blood collection where applicable, and strong communication with patients and clinic personnel.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously with patients and staff.
• Phlebotomy training and venipuncture proficiency for blood collection.
• Medical assisting experience; 1 year preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide clear instructions to patients on proper specimen collection procedures.
• For phlebotomists: perform venipuncture safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a courteous, professional demeanor with patients and clinic staff.
• Accurately label all specimens and complete requisitions.
• Prepare, package, and secure specimens for transport per safety requirements.
• Ensure specimens are shipped within required timeframes and maintain shipping logs and documentation.
• Verify that all specimens generate reports from the lab and follow up on delays.
• Collect and verify billing information and patient demographics.
• Assist with resolution of incomplete or incorrect requisition information.
• Maintain accurate records to support compliance.
• Serve as liaison between clinic staff and the laboratory to facilitate communication.
• Maintain knowledge of specimen collection and processing procedures.
