Job summary

Demant seeks a Clinical Specialist to provide on-site clinical support for evaluations, fittings, and troubleshooting, while guiding surgeons and audiologists in BAHS adoption.

You will train customers, present at regional/national events, and collaborate with Sales Leadership to expand product usage in the North Central territory.

Overview

The Clinical Specialist partners with the Territory Manager and Regional Director to provide clinical expertise, technical consultation, customer education, and surgical support that drive the successful adoption of Oticon Medical bone conduction hearing solutions.

Serving as a trusted clinical advisor, the Clinical Specialist develops strong relationships with audiologists, surgeons, hearing healthcare professionals, and office staff to improve patient outcomes while supporting the achievement of regional business objectives. This role combines clinical excellence with strategic account development and requires close collaboration across Sales, Marketing, Clinical Affairs, Customer Service, and Reimbursement teams.

Location: the North Central Territory encompasses Northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and North and South Dakota. While a significant amount of the key accounts are located in the greater Chicago area, there is a degree of flexibility. Due to the amount of travel, face-to-face field visits, and response time to customers, the candidate should reside in the territory, within proximity to a major airport.

This role includes a variable compensation target of $56k.

Responsibilities
Clinical Support
  • Provide on-site clinical support for patient evaluations, fittings, troubleshooting, follow-up appointments, and complex patient cases.
  • Serve as the clinical expert for Oticon Medical Bone Anchored Hearing Systems (BAHS), providing guidance on candidacy, programming, patient management, and best clinical practices.
  • Provide clinical and technical support during surgical procedures while serving as a trusted resource for surgeons and operating room personnel before, during, and after implantation.
  • Support the successful launch and adoption of new products, accessories, software, and clinical solutions.
  • Participate in the company's clinical on-call support program as assigned.
Customer Education
  • Deliver educational programs and hands-on training to audiologists, physicians, office personnel, residents, students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and clinical presentations at customer sites, regional meetings, and national conferences.
  • Educate customers on product features, clinical applications, competitive differentiation, and best practices to improve patient outcomes.
  • Assist customers in successfully integrating Oticon Medical products into their clinical workflow.
Territory Partnership
  • Partner with the Territory Manager to develop and execute strategic account plans that support regional business objectives (Top 30 Strategic Accounts) as reviewed and approved by your manager.
  • Identify opportunities to expand utilization within existing accounts while developing new clinical relationships.
  • Collaborate on account prioritization, customer engagement strategies, and business development initiatives.
  • Maintain a consistent field presence (10 face-to-face field visits per week) as reviewed and approved by your manager, that maximizes customer engagement through effective territory planning and time management.
  • Assist in achieving regional sales objectives through clinical expertise and customer partnership.
Account Development
  • Develop strong relationships with key opinion leaders, referral sources, educational institutions, and hearing healthcare professionals.
  • Support customer retention by delivering exceptional clinical service and timely follow-up.
  • Identify customer needs and coordinate appropriate internal resources to resolve issues promptly.
  • Gather competitive intelligence and communicate market trends, customer feedback, and product opportunities to Sales Leadership and Marketing.
Business Operations
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of customer interactions, account updates, opportunities, clinical activities, and business plans within CRM.
  • Utilize CRM, Business Intelligence tools, and available analytics to improve territory effectiveness.
  • Maintain current customer contact information and account segmentation.
  • Prepare reports, territory updates, and business reviews as requested.
  • Complete required administrative responsibilities accurately and on time
Qualifications
Required
  • Master's or Au.D. degree in Audiology or related clinical discipline.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) or ABA Certification.
  • Minimum three years of clinical audiology and/or industry experience with implantable hearing solutions, including Bone Anchored Hearing Systems (BAHS).
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and territory management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively educate healthcare professionals and influence clinical adoption.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, including overnight travel as required.
Preferred
  • Sales support or medical device industry experience.
  • Experience with Oticon Medical products.
  • Knowledge of competitive implantable hearing technologies.
  • Experience supporting surgical procedures and operating room environments.
  • Familiarity with reimbursement processes and payer landscapes for implantable hearing solutions.

Performance Expectations

This position requires frequent travel throughout the assigned territory, including customer visits, surgical support, conferences, and educational programs. The Clinical Specialist is expected to maintain a productive remote work environment and effectively manage territory responsibilities while working independently.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $90000 to $95000 per year; however, while the salary range is effective as of the date of this posting, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including but not limited to experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as bonus, commissions, or discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
