Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a skilled nurse with strong risk management experience to review and summarize incident reports and medical records. The role entails entering reports into the risk management system, identifying patterns of concern, and supporting efforts to reduce clinical and operational risk.

The candidate should have an undergraduate degree in nursing or a nursing diploma with at least five years of clinical experience, including inpatient hospital exposure.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in nursing or diploma and at least five years of clinical experience required.
• Clinical experience across multiple clinical disciplines, including at least one year of inpatient hospital experience.
• Previous work in quality, safety, or risk management functions, preferred.
• Current Alabama nursing license.

Responsibilities

• Review and refer incident reports as received from various departments and for reviewing and summarizing medical records related to incidents.
• Enter written reports into the risk management information system and make corrections to information as appropriate.
• Support the organization’s efforts to reduce clinical and operational risk by reviewing incident reports, analyzing clinical records, and collaborating with Risk Managers.
• Serve as a clinical resource for identifying patterns of concern and contribute to educational outreach related to patient safety.
