Job description

The central aspect of this role will be coordinating and facilitating clinical research, including but not limited to subject recruitment, regulatory submissions, data analysis/manuscriptpreparation, andmaintaining databasesfor multi-site registries. Training related to research ethics, human subject protections, clinical study design, and data analytics and statistical methodology will be provided.The CRC will have opportunities to co-author medical journal submissions and will be encouraged to present results at regional and national meetings. We are seeking a responsible, motivated, and independent individualwhowillbecompletingorhascompletedanadvanceddegreeinhealth-relatedareasandcancommitaminimumof 2 gap years between college and medical/graduate school.

This position may independently provide study coordination for simple and moderately complex clinical research studies. As a member of a coordination team, this position may help support a portfolio of projects with varying levels of complexity. Mastery of all job duties from the CRC-Assistant position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder is required. This position has a term limitation of 2 years, with an option to extend if funds are available.

  • Performmoderatelycomplexstudyprocedureswithaccuracy.
  • Recruit,screen,andobtainconsentforpotentialresearchsubjectsforstudieswithinthedepartment.
  • Support in-person and remote consenting, enrollment, and follow-up tasks as needed and requested by participants and the study team.
  • Collect,enter,andmanagedata.
  • Triagesimplesubjectconcernsandissuesappropriately.
  • Assessstudiesforexecutionandtroubleshootpotentialimplementationissues.
  • Schedule,assistwithpreparation,andattendstudyinitiationmeetings,audits,andmonitorvisits.
  • MayworkwithCTSUstoreconcilefinancialaccountsforstudyparticipants.
  • Assistwithlocalqualitycontrolefforts.
  • May create recruitment plan that addresses the needs of the study population and develop materials for IRB submissions that will aid in recruitment.
  • Assist in preparing for internal and external audits and reports, such as regulatory compliance and sponsor milestones.

CRC-TECHNICIAN

  • AssociatedegreeinHealthScienceoranequivalentcombinationofrelatededucationandexperienceisnecessary.
  • ONE of the following:
    • Minimum 1 years of directly related experience in clinical research and clinical trials is necessary. Please review SoCRA's Definition of a Clinical Research Professional qualifying experience prior to applying.
    • An advanced degree in a health-related areas such as: Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Clinical Research Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Epidemiology, Foreign MD.
    • Minimum 3 years of human subject experience (clinical, lab or health regulations) such as related patient care, related community health and wellness, related clinical information, and research.
  • Excellentorganizationalskillsandattentiontodetail.
  • Superbinterpersonalskills-comfortablespeakingwithhealthcareproviders,researchsponsors,andpatients.
  • Abilitytocommunicateeffectivelyandprofessionallyinbothverbalandwrittenform.
  • Abilitytoworkindependentlybutalsowithinateam.
  • Abilitytoprioritizemultipletasksandmeetdeadlinesareamust.

CRC-ASSISTANT

  • High school diploma or GED is necessary.

CRC-TECHNICIAN

  • Bachelor'sdegreeinHealthScienceoranequivalentcombinationofrelatededucationandexperienceisdesirable.
  • An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectivelycommunicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.
  • Abletocommittoaminimumof2years.

CRC-ASSISTANT

  • Associate Degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable.
  • An understanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.

Monday-Friday:8am-4:30pm; On-site work required. Travel to satellite clinics may be required.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

This position has a term limitation of 2 years , with an option to extend if funds are available. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and you will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
