Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator to join the Northwestern Memorial Hospital team in Chicago, IL. This role collaborates with NU Feinberg School of Medicine and investigator teams to implement and oversee clinical research studies across the study lifecycle.

The CRNC ensures compliance with ANA standards, maintains study protocols, trains staff, and supports adverse events management.

Qualifications

• Current license as a Registered Nurse in Illinois.
• BSN with a minimum of two years related clinical experience.
• Experience in clinical trials.
• Certification in area of clinical specialty.
• CPR-BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Leads coordination and support to Principal Investigator(s).
• Reviews research studies in pre-submission phase for feasibility of protocol implementation.
• Guides the review, revision, and maintenance of protocols; ensures compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Provides guidance to clinical research nurses on projects related to new study submissions, utilization reviews, and workflows.
• Develops and maintains clinical nursing research policies, SOPs, and guidelines.
• Reviews deviations and workflow events and reports findings to managers, recommending action.
• Collaborates with Clinical Coordinators and peers to orient and train new staff in clinical research.
• Identifies training needs for clinical research nurses to ensure patient safety and protocol compliance.
• Escalates research-related concerns to leadership and mentors staff in communication with investigator teams.
• Supports nursing staff during adverse events, emergencies, and difficult clinical situations.
• Provides clinical nursing support to inpatient and/or outpatient teams as a cross-trained resource.
• Participates in committees and remains clinically proficient.
