MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking a licensed pharmacist to evaluate prescribed medications for dose appropriateness, counsel patients, and ensure accurate dispensing. You will process prescriptions, handle DURs, pre-authorizations, and communicate with insurers to resolve coverage issues.

In this role you may act as the pharmacist in charge in the absence of the manager, maintain logs, participate in quality teams, and provide clinical guidance to physicians.

Formación

• Licensed pharmacist in MD or DC is required.
• 1-2 years of retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• PHARMD license and CPR certification required.

Responsabilidades

• Performs final check on prescriptions and ensures labeling accuracy.
• Processes prescriptions, evaluates dose appropriateness, DURs, rejects, and preauthorizations.
• Provides clinical information to physicians to ensure safe dispensing.
• Counsels patients on medications as appropriate.
• Communicates with third-party payors to troubleshoot coverage and reimbursement issues.
• Acts as pharmacist in charge in the absence of the manager and oversees workflow.
• Participates in meetings and quality/service improvement initiatives.
