Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receives, interprets and reviews prescriptions; resolves issues with prescriber, nurse or health professional
• Analyzes patient data to optimize drug therapy and provides clinical interventions
• Compounds and dispenses medications including sterile products
• Follows formulary and cost-control programs
• Completes documentation such as medical records and compliance checks
• Counsels patients and families on pharmaceutical care issues
• Directs shift workflow and supervises technicians, students or volunteers
• Adheres to policies, procedures, standards and regulations
• Identifies and participates in process improvement
• Precepts students and residents; trains new staff
