Job summary

Northwell Career Site seeks an experienced perfusionist to assemble, prime, re-circulate and test the extracorporeal circuit prior to heart-lung bypass. You will monitor the machine and adjust parameters to ensure adequate perfusion during procedures.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), current ABCP certification and NY licensure, and 1–3 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities also include administering medications and handling blood products via the circuit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required.
• Current ABCP Certification in New York State and NY licensure required.
• 1–3 years of relevant perfusionist experience.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, primes, re-circulates, and tests the extracorporeal circuit prior to heart-lung bypass.
• Modifies the circuit or uses special equipment to accommodate the procedure.
• Adjusts perfusion parameters to maintain adequate perfusion; administers meds and blood components via the circuit.
• Disassembles and cleans perfusion equipment after termination of the procedure.
• Orders and maintains supplies from Central Supply, Warehouse, and Pharmacy.
• Monitors operation of the heart-lung machine during procedures.
• Obtains blood samples during procedures.
• Performs advanced blood therapies including PRP, platelet gel, hemofiltration, and autotransfusion.
• Performs related duties as required; all duties are essential functions under the ADA.
