Job summary

CSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Fort Collins, CO seeks a Veterinary Clinical Pathologist to provide expert cytopathology and diagnostic services across species. The role includes teaching veterinary students and residents, with duties in hematology, biochemistry, urinalysis, and quality management.

The ideal candidate holds a DVM, ACVP board certification, a Colorado veterinary license, and at least five years of diagnostic experience.

Qualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree required.
Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) required.
Colorado veterinary license or eligibility required.
Minimum 5 years of diagnostic clinical pathology experience in veterinary medicine.
Ability to read cytology caseload accurately (30–35 cases per day in an 8‑hour shift).

Responsibilities

Provide clinical pathology service focusing on cytopathology and interpretation of cytologic samples.
Interpret hematology, protein electrophoresis, immunofixation, biochemistry, urinalysis, and coagulation panels.
Deliver accurate veterinary pathology diagnoses with timely turnaround times; communicate results to clients.
Participate in Quality Management System activities (SOPs, audits, proficiency testing).
Teach and train veterinary students and residents; engage with internal/external stakeholders.
